Snape Maltings Concert Hall crowned the winner of BBC PM acoustic test

Sir Simon Rattle’s comments that concert halls in London aren’t up to scratch has sparked up a bit of a debate. BBC Radio 4’s PM programme weighed in on it with an extremely scientific “acoustic-off” in their programme this afternoon. We were invited to take part and were very pleased to be selected by Salford University’s Professor of Acoustic Engineering, Trevor Cox, as the winner.

AYM & Faster than Sound: The Chimes Hour

From Monday 27 October Aldeburgh Young Musicians (AYM) and Faster than Sound will be bringing their creative and collaborative forces together to develop ‘The Chimes Hour’ – a modular composition for the Hoffmann Building ‘linking multiple spaces in an interlocking sonic ecosystem’.

My experience as an Aldeburgh Young Musician by Miranda Davies (2014 Alumni)

After 4 years at AYM I’m very sad to be leaving it behind. The Hoffmann Building – 5 years old today

Today marks the fifth birthday of the Hoffmann building, home to the Britten Studio and Jerwood Kiln along with rehearsal and teaching rooms. As Project Coordinator for the development of the building, it’s great to continue to work in the space and see it put to good use every day by artists and young musicians.
